This is the determining factor for my V8 conversion, the upper control arm mount broke leaving my wheel supported by the lower control arm and the frame of the truck. Pulling the Engine out to fix the problem was the most viable option, so I did it, and put a 1996 LT1 in place of the reliable, but tired 4.3 V6.
